Self-Deception
Self-Deception
Deep at the heart of caverns black
Through labyrinthine walls that confuse the way back
Where the Certain are lost, and the Lost are certain
And truth is twisted by mirrors of illusion
There lies in the stillness the voices unspoken
Silenced remains of the beaten and broken
They enter my courts and think they're prepared
But I know not of mercy, and no one is spared
But you're unlike the others; you could be The One
Walk with me, child; and let's have some fun
A beautiful face? A brilliant mind?
Just ask and it's yours; there's nothing to sign!
You've earned every bit, and no one will know
They'll simply adore you – you'll never plateau
Knowing only success, you'll rise to the top
Nothing will touch you; the perks never stop
So what do you say? Will you spin the wheel?
Put your soul on the line and see how you feel
And so it begins; you all take my bait
You think that you won't... until it's too late
The next thing you know, you're a pile of bones
Collapsing around me; the uniqueness of clones
*sigh*
I grow tired of this - you people don't change
You all know my face, it's hardly that strange
Just look in the mirror, see past the reflection
Do you do things for glory? Status? Affection?
Should that be the case, we'll meet again soon
So forego my warning! Think you're immune!
Til next that we meet, don't think you can hide.
The choice was yours.
Sincerely,
Pride
